Software Engineer – Python / Full Stack Development

    Job Summary

    We are looking for an experienced and motivated Software Engineer to join our development team in Bristol.

    The successful candidate will have strong experience with Python application development and will work across desktop applications, web applications, backend systems, and full-stack development.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and maintain robust applications using Python.

    • Develop and maintain desktop applications.

    • Build responsive and scalable web applications.

    • Work across both frontend and backend components as a full-stack developer.

    • Develop and integrate REST APIs and web services.

    • Design and optimise database solutions.

    • Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code.

    • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues.

    • Participate in code reviews and technical decisions.

    • Collaborate with developers, designers, product teams, and other stakeholders.

    • Contribute to application deployment, maintenance, and performance improvements.


    Required Skills & Experience

    • 5+ years of professional software development experience.

    • Strong experience with Python.

    • Experience developing web applications and backend services.

    • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

    • Experience with Django, Flask, FastAPI, or similar Python frameworks.

    • Experience with REST APIs and third-party integrations.

    • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases.

    • Frontend development experience with React, Vue, Angular, or similar technologies.

    • Experience developing or maintaining desktop applications.

    • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.

    • Experience with Git/GitHub/GitLab.

    • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.


    Desirable Skills

    • PyQt, PySide, Tkinter, or similar desktop frameworks.

    • React and TypeScript.

    • Docker and CI/CD.

    • AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

    • Automated testing and test-driven development.

    • Linux development experience.

    • Knowledge of software security, scalability, and performance optimisation.
